I dropped Haggerty insurance on my 2002. They have a very excessive definition of racing. From my policy:

"There is no coverage under this policy while 'your covered auto' is:
1) Involved in an organized or impromptu race including but not limited to the auto's:
a) preparation for a race;
b) participation in a race; or
c) practicing or qualifing for a race.

2) Being used at a:

a) Racing facility; or

b) facility or roadway temporarily designated for speed, time, racing, or performace driving eventw. This includes but is not limited to the use of 'your covered auto' at a performance driving school, an above legal speed rally or a closed road rally."

So, not only is coverage void if you auto-X the car (relatively easy to keep the shiny side up), 'drivers school' (not impossible to put the shiny side down), as well as even being in the parking lot of a track (policy says being used at a race facility) or perhaps in the paddoc.

YMMV
