most common engine fitments:

really any big six will work up to around 92'. You could use a small six from a 325 or m3, but you would need to do some fab to fit it in.

3.0/3.3/3.5L 76-85 5/6/735i non-motornic. this would be the easiest since you don't need to change the brakes from vacuum to hydro. Again, practicaly a drop-in.

3.5L motronic 86-92 or so 5/6/735i. This is the preferred, but requires a brake system change to hydro.

There is a third which I'm doing. It's just like a motronic only way more expensive (an m5 s38 powerplant).

there are several places on the web that have information. If you live in the bayarea, some of us could even help you along :)

there is a meet coming up in a couple of weeks:http://www.cloudfactory.org/~andrey/meet.html

It's time for either major engine work or maybe a swap to an M3 or 325??? engine. I'm in desparate need of info. with regards to the feasibility and what my options are.
Thanks
