There doesn't seem to be the same seal ring issue with the top bolt assemblies. If getting the top bolt out is an issue with the carb manifolds, you can always just break the torque on the bolt, then remove the assembly from the block (You really don't want to put the thing in a vise to get that bolt undone). Heckofalot easier to deal with that way. Then just put it back together off the car, remount it and torque appropriately after it's firmly in place.

You can get a top bolt assembly for a lot cheaper than a spin on adapter, too.
