Zenith rebuild kits are available from Sears (of all places..), but ask for the Mercedes Zenith kit (same carbs), as they'll look at you funny if you ask about it for a BMW. Rebuild kit is also available from these folks:

They're not that hard to rebuild -- I'm pretty inept with a wrench, and with a little help from a local independent BMW shop, was able to get my Zeniths to run very well. I get around 18mpg around town and 26 or so on road trips.

Be careful about which windshield you use for replacement. "Sudglass" windshields are notorious for improper fit resulting in leaks. It might be worth it to find an original windshield from a parted coupe.

And if you can get an exhaust for $300, that's pretty inexpensive. OEM from BMW is around $500.
