When I bought my Euro 3.0cs in 87 it had a frozen rear shock and rode like a railroad car. Luckily I never hit anything hard enough to damage the rear shock tower. I took the cheap way out and installed a set of KYB gas shocks. I found that these rode too high and were too stiff, so after 500 miles out they came and in went a set of the old Koni hydraulic shocks. These were OK, and could be adjusted although with a lot of difficulty, but were too soft for my liking. So after 3k miles, and as part of a 3 year restoration, I installed a set of Bilsteins. Perfect, this is where I should have started. Great on the street, not too harsh for long rides, and great on the track. My recommendation is don't waste your money on an inferior shock, go dirtect to Bilstein.

I'm replacing my 73 CSi shockers with Koni's but the guy at the shop is trying to convince me to consider KYB's on the grounds that as I don't run the car in club competitions or drive it that hard, KYB's would make a cost-effective replacement.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

I did an archive search and only found one entry - "they're junk" from Merdad. I was wondering if they've updated their technology recently or done anything that might win back a damaged reputation?

PS Rob thanks for the advice..
