Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
I did an archive search and only found one entry - "they're junk" from Merdad. I was wondering if they've updated their technology recently or done anything that might win back a damaged reputation?
PS Rob thanks for the advice..
A previous owner installed Bilstein strut inserts and shocks on my CSi, since the PO I bought the car from didn't know he had Bilstein on the car, it was probably the PO that imported the car from Italy in 1985.
While I'd describe the ride as firm, it's supple and well controlled. Further, since I've used 16 inch wheels and tires on the car which weigh more than the stock 14 inch wheels/tires and the Bilsteins were able to control that additional mass quite well.
As for KYB, I'd not consider them at all. When you go to the trouble and expense of installing suspension components, I recommend doing something that will last for years, possible for the full time of your ownership of the car. This philosophy dictates that Bilstein or Koni be the only choices.
Pewrsonally I'd choose Bilstein, since if they are valved too harshly for your tastes, you can send them to Bilstein for revalving to your specifications. Most likely they will be just fine.
