It depends. If it puffs out smoke when you first start the engine then its probably valve guides. If it smokes on deceleration and/or acceleration then its probably oil rings. It could be other things like a bad head gasket or cracked head, but that's rare. Either way its not good news. Still better than having a rusty car tho! 8-)
