I have replaced all my carpet using trunk sections from E3's. I took out my old original carpets ( that beautiful brown colour!!). and used them as templates for the new carpet ( out of the E3).
Yes - you will have to remove the door "step" chrome to access. Also, may be necessary to replace the floor insulation.

Its not hard - have to follow your nose and be patient. Satisfying job once done tho.
Has anyone replaced their original carpet themselves? I didn't see anything in the archives...
How difficult is it to do, and did you replace or augment the floor insulation at the same time?
I assume you have to remove the chrome strips on the door sills and forward side panels, but do you have to remove the center console?
If it is a job that's better left to a pro, what is a reasonable cost for labor?
