make sure your timing is correct, change the points and adjust the dwell to at least 40 but no more that 50 degrees, change your plugs and have your mixture checked/adjusted. If it's smoking out blue it's just excess fuel. If it's brownish it's fuel and a little oil. If it's white then it's oil for sure.

BTW, there is no engine oil additive that will stop the smoking so don't waste any money on those "no smoke" oils, it's bs.

My newly purchased 72 3.0 csi is blowing blue/smokes and idles high. The muffler has several holes from rust. Will bad injectors cause the blue smoke? Will a bad head or rings be the culpit?
