Henrik,

with my car (73 CSi) it is quite similar. I have new injectors, new fuel pump, new ignition harness, new coil, new distributor etc.
As I have a new engine too, I haven't reached more than 4k rpm.

usually that smelling and high consumption means there is too much fuel which does not burn properly -> ignition (1) or injection (2)

I try now the following steps
-check fuel pressure
-replace the (new) distributor cap. there was some splinters in the distributor indicating that rotor finger and cap are running too tight.
the cold start injector could be leaking, but my one is fine.

My 3.0 CSi -75 (Euro) has huge fuel consumption, 20 liters/100 km and does not run well (little power on top rew). All electrical is new as well as timing. People behind can smell gasoline and fumes but there is no smoke... Any ideas on where to start???
