Just spoke with Carl: rectangular 'new' style is under $50, original is $135 and available but not for long.....comes down to the quirky preferences of a coupe owner. Thanks everyone!

not quiet original, but at least it's available new and it has a bigger glass area so it's more useable.

Check with your BMW dealer or the like regardless...
