: I found this rather absurd message on one of the import message boards claiming mid 1980's Honda Civic's beating M3's?? WTF? is this guy for real or is he just a ignoramus. I'll post the message below :
NOT!....Man what a loser this guy must be.
First of all although its true M3's run against Acura Integra R's in some SCCA classes they have MANY pounds of ballast added to make them less dominant. And they Don't fit the higher classes with The Vipers and Saleen Mustangs. Second Touring Cars...In the USA they were not M3's I believe they were 318I's and on top of that they were not a factory effort like Ford,Chrysler,Honda but a competitive but way underfunded private entry. In Europe Both BMW and to some extent Audi were factored out of competition (They left) by added weight and tire restrictions.( Britain,Australia) They do still run in Germany with great success and I believe they are 320I's. BTW Touring car racing is in My opinion the best of the best as far as fun to watch. I wish they would bring it back to the states. I'm sick of the Cart/IRL/Nascar Circus.

: In SCCA, M3s run against the Integra Type-R in stock classes, and against Integras and CRXs and Civics in Street Prepared (for
: autocross). If you'll recall, M3s ran against Honda Accords in Super Touring (and lost)
: As a side note, they also get beat by the Integras in SCCA road racing, and by mid-'80s Civic hatchbacks in autocross.
