: 1) how much modification was necessary to make the 6 1/2 fit in the kick panels?
Very little, just about 5 minutes with Sawzall cutting the holes a little bigger. I will say that you will need to do something with the right kick panel as I am finding that the woofer tends to rub the grill at moderate to high volume. I have to work out some sort of custom grill for this. I think this would be a problem with any speaker though.
: 2) were the 4" drop-in replacements or did they require modifications as well?
I got cute and built custom enclosure for the 4's but as I recall they were pretty much drop in if you didn't have the time or desire to do something fancy.
3) what are you running in the rear deck?
BA RM-9's, their high end 6x9's.
Do you need any amps??? I am trying to get rid of most of mine (Sony ES (2)2X100, 2x60, 4x75)...
