: I have 70,000 on my 4/95 M3.....wondering the same things you are...
It is not amazing at all--it's a BMW. Look at all the E28 M5's with 175-200k. If you have had all the regular inspections done you should be fine. If something breaks, fix it. I have had a high mileage BMW and things like seals and gaskets may start to leak, so have those checked regularly (oil pan gasket leaks are classic BMW). Also, inspect the suspension bushings for wear and play. Make sure all belts and hoses are checked for wear and deterioration from age. Some of the repairs may be spendy, oil pan gasket change ($8 part) was $250 or 300 on my E30 325i. But it is a lot cheaper than a new car.
Lastly, check E30 and E34 boards for the kinds of things those owners are dealing with on high mileage cars.
Hope this helps.
