This was just a plain and simple statement that the cats prevent any appreciable hp gain you may expect from $1k+ headers. This has been verified on the dyno by Jim Conforti (landshark) and others.

Don't read into the tone of the message to much. Sometimes being blunt is the best way of getting the point across.

A good idea would be to join the E36 M3 mailing list and post an inquiry for some detailed info at bmwmpower.com.
