: Do you wash the car when the hood is hot??
: The prev owner might have...
: This is one of the reasons IMHO.

: : In the three weeks that i've owned my car, i've noticed a quite a few small paint chips on the hood of my car (near the roundel).
: : I've read about ways to repair these but I have a feeling this would take Forever considering the number of chips.
: : Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (warranty coverage, easier repairs, etc...)

: : TIA

Best answer I've heard, it came from one of the BMW lists, is to not follow cars so close. The previous owners might have been tailgaters.

You can buy some paint touch up at your dealership and that's about all I can think of short of repainting. I figure every 3 years or so my front bumpers and hoods will need repainting. I like to attend drivers schools and often I have to get very close to cars with R-compound tires around corners in order to pass them on the straights. It breaks my heart to hear all the stones hitting my car but what else can you do?

Chalk it up as cost of ownership.

There *is* another solution, you can Stongard (thin invisible film) the leading edge of your hood and certain areas of the bumper. My paint is too chipped up to bother but on a brand new car it might be worth it.
