: I once drag raced with my friend's 95 RX-7 which had 17psi boost. I had 3 more passengers on my stock 97 M3/2 and he had one. I killed him from second gear and on....

: BTW, his car not only has boost control, but also about $5000 of investment in modification.

Ok now I'm gonna argue on the OTHER side ;)

His car was not running right. A stock RX-7 should be slightly faster than a 97 M3 all other things equal. Those bad boys are FAST when modified, the only M3 that can keep up or beat them are the Turbo M3's. Thing about the RX-7's (particularly 3rd gens) are they are outstanding performers and can really go, but are also very sensitive and fussy, and can go south at the drop of a hat unless the owner is a real rotary guru. You can replace the pre-cat with a straight pipe, throw on a decent cat-back exhaust and those things will do mid 13's easy in the 1/4.
