Strange noises coming from my 95 M3 (archive)

I recently purchased a 95 M3 with 35,000 miles on it. Lately though I've been hearing a funny noise when I turn the steering wheel all the way in either directions. It's kind of a higher pitched humming noise...doesn't sound like anythings going to fall apart but it isn't pleasing. Is there a problem with my steering pump...or is it too early for something like that?

This is completely separate but when shifting from 1st to 2nd, I hear a *clunking* sound from under my car as I step on the clutch. Only between those two gears though.

Also, as I'm reving the car in neutral, I occasionally hear a chattering noise...hard to explain. It sounds like small pieces of metal loose in the engine.

Well, I think that's about it. Overall, the car is in good condition and feels pretty strong. (Only mod is an aftermarket exhaust).
Thanks for any and all input!
