: Looking to buy and think I understand the differences between the hardtop and ragtop (i.e., handling and performance). Question, is this (99) the last year for the M3 convertible -- no others planned? How many years did BMW offer the M3 ragtop -- two or three? What can I expect to pay? Last, will BMW offer a much improved M3 in 2000? Thanks

To my knowledge, 2 years; 98 and 99. I've got a 98 and love it. In 2000 I'm sure we'll see another new version eating the highways. Improved? Don't even kid yourself. Of course!! Especially with the debut of the 2000 Volkswagen Jetta (which is rumored to rival the current M3)and other new cars with substantially increased performance at a fraction of the cost. Audi is also getting into the game. So, my bet is we'll see a screaming M3 in 2000 to make sure it maintains its performance position.
