I store both my bimmers in the winter (850i, M3). I went down to the local speed shop and bought some trickle chargers that I hard wired to the battery. I have never used the cigarette lighter ones but I think you would be better off with something with a direct connection. I would recommend a tire pressure increase from 5-10 pounds. The best way to protect your car IMHO is to use those Carcoons. They are a plastic bubble that surrounds the car and is held up by a constant flow of air generated by a fan system. By circulating the air it prevents any type of moisture build up that would occur during storage. Moisture is bad :) I may be able to get you a deal on the Carcoons... e-mail me privately if you are interested.
