Hi,

I know this has been beaten to death, but I'm looking at my first oil change for a 99M3 with 4,000 miles. It's been one year and I want a change.

The dealer says I have dino oil, not synthetic. In any event, I want to switch to synthetic. They have Valvoline 20-50 synthetic, which seems a little thick for the Rocky Mountains, and BMW long life 5-40W synthetic. Dealer says that is for the new 15,000 miles interval BMW's.

I'm leaning toward Mobil 1, 5-30W all year round.

Could I get others opinions? Anyone think it's too early to use synthetic?

Thanks,

Blue
