To fix this, you need to remove the clutch pedal helper spring, grease the facing surfaces of the spring and put a heavy grease on the plastic pivot at the top of the spring. If you take it out, it is obvious what is going on and where it is squeaking. Reassembly requires a trick - You need to get a 3" long spring into a 2" space. I used 3 wire ties to compress the spring short enough to fit, then cut the wire ties when the spring assembly was installed.
