: Can anyone comment on how a S2000 would fair against a E36 M3 on a track (stock vs stock)? My colleague just got one and he took me for a ride. It seemed very fast and an excellent handler. I know this is kind of comparing apples and oranges and the M roadster is a better comparison but I'm just curious. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

the car sounds great on paper and may be pretty fast in real life, but if you want to get on a race track where you can really enjoy this thing, a large number of clubs do not allow convertibles. Not only that but even if they do, you might have a hard time finding an instructor to ride in a convertible without a roll cage or at least a roll bar.
I get a kick out of accelerating to over 120mph on a race track brake to about 70 and floor it through the next corner. You need a real car with a real roof to do that. No roadsters or convertibles for me for that reason alone. That car sounds like a hoot otherwise.
