Well you are having the same problems that I did, however I was once a JL dealer so I called JL directly to find out what was going on when my boxes didn't fit. The passenger side box fits best if you put the washer screw in first and work from there. The drivers side amp in my car needed to be removed as well (wow was that a pain without the right tool!), but the box eventually fit. I too am only able to get 2 screws into that box, but I tightened it down with the other two and it's really secure. Good luck!
