Never experienced driving my M3 in snow or mud but the owner's manual advises to cut the ASC off for just that purpose.

: I got stuck on a road where my M3 (with snows) had no business being in the NY boonies near Lake Placid over the weekend in an ice storm. I had the fun time of taking about an hr to get it unstuck and moving back up a hill I had unfortunately come down and couldn't get back up.

: In any case, I found that when you are in extremely limited traction conditions (ice) the ASC just repeatedly stalls the car because (I assume) that the ASC is shutting off all the air to the engine by completely closing itself off. Has anyone experienced this and know of a way around it. I would think that the system should just bring itself to idle and slowly spin tires. It made for a major PIA experience and serious abuse of the clutch to get out of such a situation.
