I've been looking for a factory indash cd receiver for my E36 '98 M3 coupe. I've called my dealer and they said that the unit in the 99 M3 convertible requires a different harness than that found in the 98 models thus it won't fit. Evidently, they don't stock this unit anyway.
Is this true? If not, you know where I can get one?
: I have in my '99 M3 Convertible. I know a lot about this unit as I helped develop it.
: When I woorked for BMW (until recently), I did not want to offer this on M-series vehicles, except the roadsters and Mcoupes. Business reason. I think they now decided to offer this for M.
: I like the indash unit for several reasons. First, I like direct access to changing a CD on a whi w/o pulling over.
: More importantly, the CD43DIN unit (the unit we are talking about), has a better tuner and a far superior amplifier section that will "wake-upo" the on-board amp, especially if you have the H-K set-up. The CD43DIN has far les distotion than the C33(you have a C33 if your car was built before Sept. 99 and/or you have weather band feature on your radio)All CD43 and C43(cassette version) have RDS instead of weatherband.
: Does this info help you at all??
