Anyway, If you have the RDS feature, then you have a C43 or CD43. This unit has a much higher output voltage than the C33. The amplifier(s) is the same for a couple years. The C33 "underdrove" the amplifier's front end and when you finally turned the volume up on the C33 to start "driving" the front-end, the radio distorted too prematurely and then the amp just "amplified" higher distortion figures. The CD43/C43 has a higher output voltage with the same or less distortion figures, which in turn allows you too feed a higher input voltage w/less distortion in to the amp (the same amp). In turn, you get a much higher, cleaner output from the amp. The amp "wakes" up.
