I had a 95 M3 too with 33,500 miles and my check engine light came on last weekend.. and it was the O2 sensor, that's what the fault code said.. I have the Bentley manual too.. really handy in time like this!!
I just ordered my sensor from allbmwparts.com from Rodd at 1800-590-7770... good price at $69.95, comes complete in a kit.. alternatively, you can always check out ultimategarage.com at $80 something a kit, tunermotorsport.com, BMP design, etc..
There is also a DETAIL article regarding O2 sensor at unofficialbmw.com
Hope this helps!!
: : Paul,
: : How many miles are on the car? It could be an 02 sensor gone bad. This is common with the 95 M3's. Dealer will be able to tell you right away.

: : : I just noticed this yesterday. As I was sitting at a light, the yellow Check Engine light came on. I pressed the Check button on the OBC, said everything was OK. I turned off the engine and started it back up (getting nervous as I started to think of the $$$ this may cost). It reappeared a few minutes later - sh*t!! I drove it back home and parked it for a few hours. Later that night I took it on a 20 mile drive, didn't come on once. No noticeable smell or anything abnormal.
: : : Is there cause for concern here? Where should I begin under the hood? Got to go get a state inspection anyway, should I spend the money for my mechanic to investigate?
: : : Can also e-mail.
: : : Thanks for the help,
