One of the differences in his exhaust and yours is that you have a SC on your car. This can make a difference as it did with my car. When I put the SC on it. my car was noticable louder. Not too much louder but it was louder. I even had some people comment on the way my car sounds versus other M3s out there.
: : First of all if I EVER start my own business I will make sure the name starts with A! I have been waiting for 3 weeks for UPS to show up and inspect my damaged DINAN muffler. These butchers of parcel packages REALLY need to get their act together. I finally gave up on waiting since I wanted the DINAN on SO BAD! I opened up the phone book and called the first muffler shop I found. I told him my problem and he told me to bring it in.
: : We put the exhaust on his expander machine and brought BOTH my bent exhaust tips back to perfect condition and the DINAN lettering wasn't effected (yippee!)
: : Not only did he fix the muffler but he lifted the car and put it on for me too! Total cost with repair and install... $30!!! MAN WAS I FRIGGEN HAPPY! Stealer wanted $80 just to put on the muffer (mandatory 1 hr. minimum labor crap)
: : What did I think. First thing after he brought it down from the rack was to have him rev the engine while I was behind the car. It sounded GREAT!
: : No, I'll admit, the first reason I wanted to get the DINAN was because I was told it wasn't too loud and it only really opens up when your on the throttle. WELL, when I pulled away my firzt impression where that the Note changed but it didn't really get louder. I'll admit I was a little disappointed becase I thought from other people descriptions that when I hit around 5K-7K rpm that this baby would REALLY open up "get louder". Well it didn't. SO first thing, If you want the exhaust to be NOTICABLY louder I would stear away from the DINAN. However, the note this exhaust produces is PERFECT. I mean my engine really sounds like a perfectly tuned race machine now! It sound EXTRA nice from 3K- 4.5K rpm in 2nd and third. Really throaty growl. It's NEVER obnoxious.
: : Don't get me wrong, it is LOUDER. This was observes in the driving next to a bunch of garages and underneath a bridge tests. How technical huh? In some underpassed I couldn't help put to downshift and punch it the the results where QUITE pleasing. I know it seems stupid but I've got a little riceboy inside of me (or would it be krautboy?) that wants a slightly obnoxious exhaust. But either way I'm very happy with it's new sound and slightly added volume.
: : If you want to get an exhaust that makes your car sound PURR fect. The Dinan is a strong contender.(I'd say best since it sounds PERFECT to me but I have nothing to compare to) If your looking for something a little more obnoxious I would look elsewhere.
: I got my Dinan exhaust as part of my stage II supercharger installation. My perception is slightly different from yours in that when it was brand new, and for a few days afterward, I was concerned that it might be too loud for me...But, after about 3 days, I found it to get notably quieter. Its still substantially 'loud', but not abnoxiously so. But as far as the note goes, I agree 100%. Its purrrrfect. One of the features I like the best is the sound it makes when youve down shifted. When you hit it right, it produces the most incredible 'burble' I've heard yet! And, the sound it makes when you are around 2000 rpms just cruising around town is also awsome. And the fit is perfect also...right smack in the middle of the valence cut out, with no rubbing or touching...Great purchase, right?!!
