: Hey Gang:

: Have any of you ordered a Crutchfield CD to replace your M3 (casette) stereo and how did the install go?

: I ask as I don't think I'll go for the factory $800+ disc changer

I think you are asking about a CD headunit, not a CD changer. I purchased a top-of-the-line CD headunit from Sony through Crutchfield a couple of years ago for my 97 M3/2. They supplied me with a wire harness and an antenna adapter. I am not particularly mechanically inclined, but was able to complete the installation pretty quickly, and you can't tell that it was installed by a lay person. Their instruction are pretty good and their harness simplifies the installation process.
Their customer service department is also very helpful and knowledgable.
