In Reply to: Pras, what's wrong with your door seals? (eom) posted by dgm3 on January 06, 2000 at 15:00:57:

Okay, this is the problem I've had:

My driver's side window makes this hissing noise from the window by the mirror - I can actually watch the water bubble and ripple when it's wet. First time I took it to the stealer, they didn't have the part. Second time, they ordered the WRONG part and replaced the whole door seal by mistake. Well, now my door seal leaks air (loudly!!) right where the door/window meet AND the window still leaks. They're supposed to fix both of them NEXT MONTH when they get the parts.

Dunno about the jack pad - I read the instructions about jacking my car up to install my sway bars, looked under the car and I only have 3 of them. Kinda like me only having three brake springs, but different - I swear I have the car of missing parts.

: : They will be reloading your ECU, so whatever 'learning' period there is will begin anew. I think that OBDII continually adjusts to your driving, but I don't know. Hope you don't have Dinan/Conforti software, if so it's toast.

: : If your car is one of the ones effected, they'll replace your sensor. Yours is a bit older than mine, and mine needed it.

: : Airbag recall isn't ready yet - should be sometime soon, though.

: : Cheers!

: : (Mine goes in next month for them to AGAIN replace my window and door seals, and replace a missing jack pad...)

: : : I'll be taking my '99 M3 to the dealer tomorrow to have them change my tranny oil to Red Line D4ATF and install the heavy duty 320i tranny bushings using the UUC "Enforcer" cups. I also want them to take care of the "Recall" for the Side Airbag sensitivity.

: : : While I'm there I will ask them to fix my Cold-Idle problem and "check" the Crankshaft Sensor. I assume the fix for the Cold-Idle problem is a download to the ECU but what about the fix for the Crankshaft Sensor? The sensor hasn't caused any problem so far. Will they fix or change it anyway?

: : : Also, after the download for the Cold-Idle problem, will the ECU go back to factory default settings and a "re-learn" period be needed? I'm not sure how a BMW ECU reacts to being re-programmed.
