I have heard this too, when you go to the dealer- act as if you want this replaced because the heat issue is why it cracked. If you "ask", or give them an opportunity to not warranty it, I'm sure they will. Don't say: "Gee, I don't know what happened, maybe it was too hot, I'm not sure..." Say: "the lens is obviously defective, I know about the defective lens and I want it replaced" You can be nice, but let them know you're not stupid! I'm assuming there's no "bullet hole" from a rock that will make this all pointless. Also, the defective lens may have been only a certain year, etc. THAT I'm not sure of- anybody?
