: Easy…first purchase the K&N filter cleaner and oiling kit.. Then loosen the two retainer belts holding the arm in place. Remove arm. Unscrew the screws holding the plate that holds the cone coupling. Remove plate. Remove cone. Apply cleaner to remove old oil and dirt. Hose off cleaner. Let dry. Apply new oil. Let dry. Reinstall. (a lot more fun then getting under the m and doing a half ass job). Here is a cool tip for the dinan. Drill a 1 to 2 inch hole in the top of your left brake-cooling duct this will get more cold air and get positive pressure to the filter chamber where the con resides. I have had mine this way for a year on my 99 M3 with do problems. Makes sense to me. Korman also uses this idea on their e36 m3 “ram air Intake” ( they assure you that you will not lose noticeable brake cooling).
