Rob L. told me that there is a clip inside the knob that needs to be replaced, and even gave me the part number. I don't have the number anymore, but you friendly BMW parts tech should be able to help out.

Had my knb replaced under warranty, now ok.

: during redline 1-2 shifts the knob sometimes has a tendency to pop off in my hand. i don't slam the shifter, but the force required to make the shift at 7000rpm seems to be too much for the shifter. i've upgraded to bl/ss w/erk before so that might've made the shift boot lose the factory tightness. (since i had to remove it)

: any remedies for this?
