I am the owner of a 95 blk m3 and have tried many different sub installations. I have found that the trunk is very sealed off from the rest of the car and to get the true performance of any system you need to drill port holes in the rear deck. It can be done with standard ports made for boxes. When I first got the car i had two kicker 12's but the way to go if you want true bass is four 15 inch soundstream spl 170's. I have them hooked up to a 1600 watt rms amp and the bass is outstanding. The only problem is weight because they weight approx. 40 lbs each plus the custom box and amp which is another 200lbs. to the car. Also i would take out the whole stock system because the amps and head unit are very poor.
