For reference, published technical data for M3 rear axel ratios:

'95 M3 Lightweight 3.23:1
'95 M3 standard 3.15:1

For a "taller" rear which produces lower engine RPM for a given vehicle speed, and potentially a higher top end speed (w/o the electronic limiter), the ratio would be less, say somewhere around 2.90-3.00:1.

Low speed acceleration increases, e.g. the M3 lightweight, or to increase low end pulling power for trailering applications, you increase the rear axel ratio. Check it out, most all trailering options include a higher ratio rear axel.

: Am I really fucked up or did he mean a 3.46 ratio.

: Wouldn't 2.90 ratio make your car slower?
