: If you are talking about a 99E M3 and you plan on upgrading to the E46 M3 in 3-4 years, definitely lease the car. The only exception being if it is going to be a high mileage commuter. If you lease now, the E46 will be in its 2nd or 3rd production year and will have any bugs worked out.
: If you choose to buy, be aware that when the E46 comes out this year, the E36 will be harder to sell. However, if you plan on long-term ownership, then by all means buy the E36 and get used to having a smile on your face.
