Let me ask you this: is there a better-than-stock clutch to replace it with?

: The clutch is not covered under warranty just like brake pads aren't. It is considered a normal wear item. With 37K miles on a '97 model the dealer will not offer any help on the cost to replace it whereas maybe on a '99 with minumum mileage they might.

: Most people get far more than 37K mileage out of their clutch but it all depends on how the car is driven. Agressive driving, lots of stop and go city driving, riding the clutch on hills, driving with your foot resting on the clutch pedal and higher gear WOT acceleration will all shorten the clutch's life.
