Advice on wheel spacers needed! (archive)

I have a set of E36 17" Contours wheels that I would like to use on my 92 535i. I know the E34 requires a +20mm offset. I believe these wheels have a +42mm offset. I tried mounting one of the wheels in the front to see how close it comes to hitting the strut and they hit upon tightening the bolt. Another note is that the hub size is the same which means an adapter won't be required.
I'm thinking about using a 20mm spacer. Is this the correct size I should use? It will probably require longer bolts, what size do I need for the ??mm spacer application?

If I get any spacers I want to use a hub-centric spacer. I know H&R makes them but are there any other manufacturers (websites, pricing)?

All input on this topic would be appreciated!!
