Coupe has fold down rear seats -drive car w/seats up& dwn. You can hear the diff. Since BMW can't fill that big hole w/sound deadening (would render fold dwn seats useless)they put lots of sound deadening mtl around the rear shock tower to keep the noise out of the passenger compartment. If you remove your trunk carpet around the rear shock tower you'll see the large pieces of mtl.
