I know Dinan are not BMW MFG warrantied. But the dealer always has some slack. Even though I know I have the right to put the parts on. Even though I KNOW I have the LEGAL right to use after market parts, the fact is the dealership was going to hassle me for any aftermarket parts. I could bark all day but I know I would have to take them to court if something happened. With Knauz I knew they would support me if anything went wrong.
Example, Patrick BMW specifically stated that if I installed a DINAN CAI myself or my Midwest, they would not cover anything that went wrong with the engine. They gave examples like burnt pistons, damaged oxygen sensors, and a list of other bullshit. With Knauz I know that I have a no questions support issue. If something goes wrong they will fix it. Believe me it really upsets me to pay a higher hourly rate. I just don't want the burdon of proof to fall on my shoulders anytime something goes wrong with my car.
: Nope, no LTW for me, yet ;-)
: But you may have seen me around.
: As for whatever dealer X told you about voiding your warranty. There no such thing. They can deny a claim if they can 'prove' that a modification caused the fault, but they can't deny replacing your window motor because you put on an exhaust.
: As for BMW dealer vs independant, doesn't make a difference. You've just added a Dinan part, BMW does not warranty the part, Dinan does.
: Don't wait for your warranty to expire before you start using Leo. Use the dealer for warranty and maintenace items, use Leo for the 'go fast, stop fast, keep the tires on the road' goodies.
