check out the video I posted 2/11 if you want to see the whole turn. The line involves a late apex but I wouldn't really say there are two apexes. Ideally the turn's apex will place the car running parallel with the funky straight line at the end of the turn. My line still isn't perfect, but it is pretty close to what the instructor used.
I think this is a cool conversation, but I have a problem with anonymous posters. I understand that people have there concerns, but people with strong opinions should step up to the plate and sign their name. If you are concerned about SPAM, mangle your email so that a human knows how to send e-mail but an automated spamming engine doesn't (e.g. add the "NOSPAM" or something similar to the domain). Anyway, that is my opinion, but as you know everyone has one...
: Yea, I pulled up the track diagram that is a big sweeper. It almost looks like it woud be driven as two turns with an apex on entry and a second one on exit. Have you been instructed to stay far outside on entry and extremly late apex on exit?

: : : Brakes - I swapped out the front rotors for the euro pieces and switched to EBC Red Stuff pads for the event. The performance of the brakes was outstanding! I was able to fade the brakes last year at Laguna, and the instructors were really able to fade the brakes... at Sears Point with the new goodies the brakes never faded and the instructor seemed hell bent on a repeat performance. Granted Sears isn't as brake intensive as Laguna Seca, but my belief is that upgraded brake pads are a necessity for even beginning track days (actually, especially for beginning track days because newbies drag the brakes much more into turns then the experienced folk).
: : : ERT Pulley - I came across a very good deal on a used ERT pulley (thanks Scott) and installed that a few weeks before the event. I experienced no problems on the track... no AC belt throwing, no overheating - nada. It just worked.
: : : Track Driving For Newbies - Last but not least... second track days can be tough. The first track day for an individual has them slowly building speed and confidence throughout the morning session when a newbie has "no rhythm" and is just mechanically following the actions of the instructors. Towards the end of the first track day you can feel the rhythm but can't synthesize it yourself from scratch. Hence the problem for my second track day at a different track. I had problems finding the new rhythm required by this track and was overdriving the track. I really didn't do well until I slowed down, talked with some instructors and re-built my speed in small increments as I learned the new rhythm. Hopefully with time and practice I will be able to find the rhythms on new tracks myself, but for now I am resigned to the fact that I must be told what the rhythm is.
