'99 M3 Cruise Control--Why So Sluggish? (archive)

Bought my M3 new last Fall and my main complaint now is perhaps petty, but I do a lot of highway driving and use the cruise control a lot. Keeps me from speeding as much. I have been spoiled my previous ancient '87 BMW 535is cruise control that had snappy engagement and re-engagement and was quick to respond in use. By contrast, the 13 year newer M3 cruise control takes forever to re-engage (by pushing in on the stalk) and is sluggish on speed corrections. It's not too bad when first engaging. Is anyone on this board knowledgeable on this aspect of the M3 to tell me if there is a way to speed the response up? I'll have the dealer do the fix, but it's always better to go in armed with the facts so if he says "Sorry, they all to that. Nuthin we can do" I'll know better. Thanks,

Sadler
