In Reply to: The pilot MXX3's got me through another winter.. posted by ChewToy on February 13, 2000 at 09:57:25:

a few years back when i was still back home and m3-less, i had a 94 3000gt. 222 hp, front drive, auto tranny, no ABS, 225/55-16. from the factory, it came with yokohama v rated tires. the tires were a little stiff as i would get a lot of hop when i tried to get my fronts to spin a little on some hard acceleration runs. after a little 90 foot ABS-less full lockup skid, i had to replace my front tires as i had flat spots. i got a good deal on some michelin tires, so i chose some mxx3's in factory size. with the pilots, i chugged through mountains of snow in 2 separate winters. i was suprised at their in snow/ice stability. not once did i spin out of control or lost it when braking, with the exception of doing donuts in empty parking lots. the highest snowfall i drove through was a 28" performance a few days before i gave up the 3000gt to come to school. 5 and a half months later, i got my m3 and it's just seen its first winter a few weeks back. the pilot sports didn't seem to be as good as the mxxs'3. =)
