I had a similar dilema last week. I bought a Dinan Intake (CAI) used and was made paranoid by the Dinan catalog wording (as well as the Jim C).

Basically, it's buy our intake, but you have to use our software too.

After an extremely helpful email from a web vendor (won't name names yet), he stated that a simple intake swap will gain power with or without some guys software. And more so, they've seen the mix and match with power gains (and no check engine light issues).

From what I gather, you want to Dinan Software upgrade but use the ECIS intake set-up. If Dinan is so reluctant to help, why not hold off and buy the "Shark Injector?" You can reprogram and unprogram at your leisure.

Anyway, that's what I plan to do for CA SMOG.
