Are you still using the ECIS intake with the SC or does the kit come with it's own? I'm going to SC mine this year, and don't want to buy an intake if I have to scrap it in a few months...

Thanks
Dave

: : I had a similar dilema last week. I bought a Dinan Intake (CAI) used and was made paranoid by the Dinan catalog wording (as well as the Jim C).

: : Basically, it's buy our intake, but you have to use our software too.

: : After an extremely helpful email from a web vendor (won't name names yet), he stated that a simple intake swap will gain power with or without some guys software. And more so, they've seen the mix and match with power gains (and no check engine light issues).

: : From what I gather, you want to Dinan Software upgrade but use the ECIS intake set-up. If Dinan is so reluctant to help, why not hold off and buy the "Shark Injector?" You can reprogram and unprogram at your leisure.

: : Anyway, that's what I plan to do for CA SMOG.

: The first mod I got to my new '99 after it was only a couple months old was the ECIS intake kit, which I was very pleased with...I then wanted Software...But, I learned Jim C did now want to sell me his regular OBDII flash since I had a 3rd party intake...And, he didnt want to sell me his intake software, cause I didnt have his intake...Regardless, with the ECIS kit and stock software, I threw no CE lights, and it ran very well. Then, I called my local Dinan dealer, and told them I had an intake which wasnt theres, but was effective, and which software download would they sell me? They looked at their specs, and told me that, since I had a CAI, they would sell me their stage II software...There was no 3rd degree, no hassles, just a straight forward sale and installation. I guess, it depends on whom you approach, and how you approach them. Which, I guess, is true for most things in life.
