I run this size for autocross (Kumhos) and is not a problem at all. I look regularly for fender liner scrap ; okie-dokie so far-- and I drive the piss out of my car when I auto-x.

I run a completely stock suspension, btw.

I should say that properly inflated, 255s rear with 225s front will tend to encourage more understeer. Since most of us don't prefer understeer I'd recommend against it for street driving --other factors being the same.
