Yeah, i wondered what that was too the few times i downshifted into first. sounds different from downshifting into any other gear, doesnt it? I think its the ///M's way of telling us we shouldnt be down shifting into 1st gear at over 1300 rpm - it doesnt like it. Plus, 1st gear on the ///M is pretty much made to get the car going, not for moderate/high rpm driving. Most of the pulling should be done in 2nd gear. And brake pads are cheaper than a clutch job, so i use my brakes more than i use my gears to slow down.
