JC chip modded for HFM? Im confused now... is there another chip specifically if you have just the HFM upgrade?

: I think you can mix and match the parts b/c my friend has a 95 M3 w/ 540 HFM, Eurosport chip(JC chip modded for HFM), and ECIS Euro CAI. His setup works fine. I think it only matters if you get an HFM.

: : Gang:

: : Read over a thread WAY below where JIM C stated that running an upgraded intake with just "normal" software may cause the DME to dump fuel into the cat to cool the mix.
: : This occurs under fairly extreme situations.

: : Thus the need to upgrade to software with intakes in mind.

: : [slight paraphrase so don't kill me]

: : Questions are:

: : 1. If one was to just bolt in an intake with no software upgrade, would the same happen?

: : 2. Do different intake types really make that much of a difference in HP/Torque/Airflow enough to warrant an ECU reprogram for each specific intake. I.e. only dinan software for dinan intakes, only JC software for JC intakes?

: : I would understand that the respective companies would only use their intake for tuning, that makes sense.

: : But, does the airflow between the ECIS, Dinan, JIM JC, Homemade K&N really differ that much?

: : So what I am saying is that dinan, jc, etc. rewrite software to optimize and for safety, an intake bolt-on. But does the variance in intake flow really differ enough to make us also buy the intake and software from a specific vendor.

: : Why can't we mix and match as long as the software includes an intake "script?"

:
: : Thanks!
