Richard M3: Earlier you reported that you were installing a 3:46 axle to replace the 3:15 in your '95 M3. Should be installed by now. Still curious, with the 3:46 axle, can you still reach 60 m/h in second gear??? Is 1st gear also shorten too much? I want to switch to a 3:46 in my '99 M3, but want to be sure it is worth the $2K and work.

In the past, in both my Mustang and vette I had a 3.75 axle installed and they, then, drove like trucks. First gear whines out too fast and the same with second, so beyond the excessive tire squeal, the two cars were about the same in 0-60 m/h speed as before the axle switch but now the was a lot of excessive shifting with the higher ratio cars. Let us know how you found the performance with the new axle.
